Gloucester Ridge produces three individual ranges of wines, The Back Block Range, The Mid Range & The Premium Estate Range. Tasting notes for the wines currently available can be found on our Wine List page. We also offer a Wine Order where Australian customers can purchase our current wines.
The Back Block Range
The back block range is traditionally that area furthest from the homestead. It was here that Don & Sue Hancock first grew the fruit for uncomplicated, fast maturing ‘ready-to-drink’ wines intended initially for the export market.
Today, augmented by fruit sourced from other growers in WA’s south west, these cost-conscious, easy-drinking reds & whites have become favourites in the state’s café market as well as with Gloucester Ridge’s many cellar door customers.
The Back Block whites - Semillon,
Chardonnay & Sauvignon Blanc.
The Back Block red - Cabernet Sauvignon
The Mid Range
In terms of price, the name says it all. In terms of quality, prepare for a surprise. Most of the Gloucester Ridge Mid Range wines are carefully blended varietals. The whites are unwooded and the reds are all matured in two and three year old oak.
Aimed at the restaurant market and the more discerning wine buyer, the Mid Range selection is presented in distinctively labeled bottles and represents excellent value for money whether by the bottle or by the case.
The Mid Range whites - Unwooded
Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc,
Pemberton Classic White, Late Harvest Riesling
The Mid Range reds - Cabernet Merlot, Seduction
(Rose)
The Premium Estate Range
Primarily estate grown and hand harvested, the grapes that go to make the Premium Estate Range are selected from the very best parcels of fruit.
Most of these wines are fermented and matured for up to two years in new oak casks specially imported from France. Cool climate, smooth drinking, premium style wines, they represent the very finest the Pemberton region has to offer.
And yet they still provide the most discerning connoisseur with an excellent value-for-money wine - or investment.
The Premium Estate whites
- Reserve Chardonnay, Chimere
(Champagne style)
The Premium Estate reds – Shiraz, Cabernet
Sauvignon Reserve, Pinot Noir
